WASHBURN – LeRoy Guy Turner, 71, passed away peacefully Oct. 6, 2008, in Bangor, surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with emphysema. He was born March 8, 1937, in Washburn, son of the late Guy and Catherine (Churchill) Turner of Washburn. He was a graduate of Washburn High School and served with the U.S. Army during the Korea War. He worked for many years in potato processing plants. He loved horses, was an avid harness racing fan and was also a member of the U.S. Trotting Association. LeRoy was a loving and devoted husband and father to his family. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Margaret (Rand) Turner of Washburn; five sons, Andrew Turner and his wife, Donna, of Wade, Scott Turner of Washburn, Todd Turner and his wife, Lisa, of Braselton, Ga., Trent Turner and his wife, Jeanie, of Douglasville, Ga., and Brent Turner of Washburn; a brother, Larry Turner and his wife, Brenda, of Washburn; a sister, Joyce Doody and her husband, Wendell, of Washburn; seven grandchildren, Andrea Turner Liebmann of Coral Springs, Fla., Bradley Turner of Wade, Dustin Turner of Portland, Kyle and Emma Turner Braselton, Ga., Aron Craig of Cummings, Ga., and Andrew Craig of Martinsburg, W.Va.; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 11 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou, from the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Dorothy Matson, pastor, officiating. Interment will take place at Hillside Grove Cemetery, Crouseville.
