MAPLETON – Joyce G. Wilder, 82, wife of the late Harry L. Wilder, died Oct. 5, 2008, at her home. She was born July 23, 1926, in Bridgewater, the daughter of Walter and Marion (Welch) Hutchinson. Mrs. Wilder grew up in Monticello and graduated from Ricker Classical Institute. She co-owned and operated Wilder’s Jewelry store with her husband, who she married in 1957. She had also been employed at Madigan Hospital, Houlton and WAGM radio station in Presque Isle. Mrs. Wilder was a longtime resident of Presque Isle and Mapleton, and was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church for many years. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Carol Ann Hutchinson Stewart; and a brother, Roger Hutchinson. Surviving is her daughter, Carol Ann Wilder of Battlecreek, Mich.; a brother, Wayne Hillman Hutchinson of Montrose, Pa.; several nieces, nephews, great-grandnieces, great-grandnephews and cousins. Graveside services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle, with the Rev. Dr. Robert Smith officiating.
