WILTON – Linwood R. Wilson, 84, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2008, at Edgewood Rehabilitation and Living Center, Farmington. He was born April 19, 1924, in Lincoln, the son of Bedford and Geneva (Lancaster) Wilson. He graduated from Lincoln schools. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Linwood served during World War II from 1943 to 1945. During the majority of Linwood’s working career, he did administrative and bookkeeping work for various logging operations in the Presque Isle and Ashland areas. He was a life member of LeBlanc-Junkins VFW Post No. 9699, Ashland and was involved in the Masons as a younger man. Linwood enjoyed bicycling and could be seen just about anywhere riding. He also enjoyed cross-country skiing, bowling and playing pool. One of his greatest passions was art. He was very artistic and enjoyed creating pen and ink drawings, and oil pastels particularly of outdoor scenes. Sharing his art with others was often his way of saying, “thank-you” to others. He is survived by five daughters, Meredith Thompson and her husband, Ronald, of Weld, Jeanne Ringo and her husband, Robert, of North Glenn, Colo., Karen Jordan and her husband, Michael, of Presque Isle, Kristen Rydstrom of Bangor and Kimberly Harris and her husband, Eric, of Chichester, N.H.; many grandchildren, including great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at a later date to be announced. Gifts may be given in Linwood’s memory to Wilton Free Public Library, P.O. Box 454, Wilton, ME 04294, Edgewood Rehabilitation and Living Center Resident Activity Fund, 221 Fairbanks Road, Farmington, ME 04938 or the charity of one’s choice.
