BERNARD – Charlotte V. Black, 87, died Oct. 4, 2008, in Deer Isle. She was born May 7, 1921, on Swans Island, the daughter of Leverett S. and Albra M. (Staples) Stanley. She owned and operated the Black Takeout, Bernard, for many years and she enjoyed her gardens. Charlotte is survived by two sons, David Black and wife, Sandra, and Stanley Black and wife, Lori, all of West Tremont; one sister, Maxine Clark of Southwest Harbor; three grandchildren, Amy, Morgan and Chelsea Black; one great-grandchild, Lynsie Sprague; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Perley and Lyford Stanley; and by a grandson, David Black Jr. Private family services will be held at the convenience of the family.
