BROOKLIN – Elsie Anderson Gould, 87, died Oct. 8, 2008, at a Blue Hill hospital. She was born Sept. 18, 1921, in Blue Hill, the daughter of Laurence H. and Viola (Gray) Carter. Elsie attended schools in Blue Hill and proudly graduated from George Stevens Academy in 1939. She enjoyed the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots, but her favorite sport was basketball. She was a great fan of Cindy Blodgett and the University of Maine Women’s Basketball team. Elsie was a member of Brooklin Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Richard of Brooklin; daughter, Pamela Anderson and partner, Paula Grindle, of Bangor; grandchildren, Craig Berry of New Jersey, Janice Zenter and husband, Charles, of Castine; great-grandchild, Morgan Zenter of Castine; brothers, Linwood Carter and wife, Geraldine, and Gordon Carter and wife, Edna, both of Blue Hill; son-in-law, John Berry of Brooklin; Dick’s daughters, Barbara, Beverly and Karen; and special friends, Georgene Allen and Dorothy Day. She was predeceased by her first husband, Albert Anderson; daughter, Patricia Berry; sister, Marion Carter and husband, Willard; and brother, Pearl Carter and wife, Marilyn. Special thanks to Gail Hutchinson for her kindness and caring for Mum in her last few months. Also a thank you to Beverly Nickerson for helping Mum and Dick last winter. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, at Brooklin Cemetery with Pastor Jim Robertson officiating. Contributions in Elsie’s memory may be made to Komen Maine Race, P.O.
