GOULDSBORO – Janice Tye, 62, died Oct. 7, 2008, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Jan. 10, 1946, in Hackney, England, daughter of Lewis and Rebecca (Latinsky) Newman. Janice was a graduate of London University and taught children in the United Kingdom and the United States. She was co-owner of a successful custom furniture company for 22 years and most recently was the Cross merchandiser for the Home Depot store, Ellsworth. Her passions include painting, jewelry design and manufacture, as well as writing children’s stories and poetry. She was predeceased by her parents. Janice is survived by her son, Marcus Tye; two brothers, Steven Newman and Godfrey Newman; and nieces and nephews, Tiffany and Tracy, David and Menachem. A celebration of Janice’s life will be held 6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20 at Beth C. Wright Cancer Center, 3 High St., Ellsworth. Family and friends are asked to plant peonies in her memory. Arrangements under the care of Direct Cremation of Maine, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
