HAMPDEN – Nancy Ann (Stimpson) Porter, wife of Roger L. Porter, passed away Oct. 8, 2008, at a Brewer health care facility. She was born Oct. 29, 1938, in Bangor, the daughter of Arthur F. Stimpson I and Valeska (Elliott) Stimpson. Nancy grew up in Hampden and was a graduate of Hampden Academy. She worked for many years at Hampden Telephone Co., as an accounts payable clerk and operator. Nancy enjoyed arts and crafts, and was immaculate in the care of her home and her self. She will be remembered as a loving and beautiful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Nancy is survived by her husband of 49 years, Roger of Hampden; her mother, Valeska Robinson of Hampden; her son, Stephen A. Porter of Hayward, Calif.; one brother, Arthur F. Stimpson Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Lewiston; two grandchildren, Samantha L. and Matthew L. Porter; and two aunts, Valada DeGrasse and June Phillips. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Monday at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, with the Rev. Dr. Tracy Reeves officiating.
