FRENCHVILLE – Philip J. Franck, 81, husband of Dora (Robichaud) Franck, passed away Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008, surrounded by his loving family. He began his life Jan. 24, 1927, in Frenchville, a son to the late Frankie and Edith (Michaud) Franck. Mr. Franck grew up and lived in Frenchville with Dora, the love of his life. They were married for 60 years. Together they raised eight children, Louise and husband, Michael Cyr, of Orono, Gregory Franck of Madawaska, Mary and husband, Edward Thibeault, of Boca Raton, Fla., Ann Franck of Madawaska, Leah and husband, Daniel Chamberland, of Terryville, Conn., Ruth and husband, Louis Martin, of Wolcott, Conn., Jean and husband, Peter Violette, of Clinton and Lynne and husband, Bill Zarewicz, of Margate, Fla. He was Pepere to 12 grandchildren, Andrew Cyr, Andrea Roberts, Craig Franck, Becky Dumond, Zachary Franck, Stuart Thibeault, April Thibeault, Beth Landrette, Scott Chamberland, Neil Martin, Nicole Martin, Emily Zarewicz; and seven great-grandchildren, Connor and Amelia Roberts, Kyle, Corey and Brooke Franck, Frankie and Ella Dumond. He is survived by his four sisters, Priscilla Franck of Madawaska, Sister Marie Franck of Sound Beach, N.Y., Pauline Gow of Binghamton, N.Y., and Sister Alice Franck of Sound Beach, N.Y. Philip was predeceased by his siblings, Estelle Franck, Antonio Franck, Lucien Franck Sr., Ange Franck, the Rev. Marc Franck, Juliette Turgeon and Alfred Franck. Philip served as a medic in Italy during World War II. Throughout his life, he worked for Johnston Oil and was the sole proprietor of Valley Service and Tuffkote Rust Proofing. He always had a twinkle of love in his eyes. Philip will be remembered for his strong work ethic, quiet presence and dry wit. He was a gentle, generous, loving presence to all who knew him. Family and friends may visit 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, and 9 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at Michaud Funeral Home, Frenchville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, at St. Luce Catholic Church, Frenchville, with the Rev. Dave Raymond officiating. Burial will be at St. Luce Parish Cemetery, Frenchville. A time of fellowship will be held immediately after at Frenchville Community Center. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Aroostook, 64 East Main St., Fort Kent, ME 04743 or Our Lady of the Valley Parish Memorial Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
