ROSALIE W. HOWES – GARDINER – Rosalie W. Howes, 57, passed away Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, at Maine General Medical Center, Augusta, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. She is now resting peacefully in the arms of our Lord. She was born June 19, 1951, in Concord, N.H., the daughter of William and Emilia (Greco) Wilson. She attended Bishop Brady High School and graduated from Merrimack College with a bachelor’s degree in English literature. After graduation she worked in various capacities within the insurance industry, most recently as a consumer outreach specialist for the Bureau of Insurance, Gardiner. Rosalie thoroughly enjoyed life and was a blessing to all who knew her. She was a beautiful, deeply calm, wise, compassionate, generous, fiercely independent and dryly humorous person. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, daughter and friend. She will be sincerely missed by all of those she has left behind. She is survived by her beloved husband of 22 years, Kevin Howes of Gardiner; son, Nathaniel Howes of Gardiner; and parents, Bill and Mimi of New Hampshire. The family thanks all of those involved in Rosalie’s treatment, especially those at Maine General Medical Center, who provided comfort and care during her final hours. A vigil memorial service will be held 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Chapel. A Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 17, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Gardiner. A gathering will be held afterward downstairs in the church hall. In Rosalie’s memory, donations may be made to Harold Alfond Center for Cancer, 361 Old Belgrade Road, Augusta, ME 04330. Arrangements are under the care of Funeral Alternatives Group, 198 Western Ave., Augusta.
