VIRGINIA LUCILLE BARSTOW DERBY – KITTERY – Virginia Lucille Barstow Derby passed away Sept. 12, 2008, at Durgin Pines, Kittery. Virginia was born July 6, 1918, in Brewer, the third of six children to Roy and Lulu (Maddox) Barstow. Virginia and LaRoy lived in their home in Stetson until 2002, when they moved to Kittery, where she was a resident of Harbor Home and Durgin Pines Nursing Facilities until her death. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, LaRoy of Meetinghouse Village, Kittery; son, Peter and wife, Elizabeth, of Eliot; son, James and wife, Susan Nichols, of Arlington, Va., and Gettysburg, Pa.; sister, Madelene (Mrs. Donald) Jackson; nieces, Gail (Jackson) Mahanna, Bonnie (Barstow) Robinson and Laurie (Barstow) Hamilton and their families; and nephews, Victor Whitehouse, Donald and David Jackson, and Thomas Laughton and their families. She was predeceased by her parents; her two brothers, Roy W. Barstow Jr. and Franklin Barstow; two sisters, Helen Whitehouse and June Laughton; and niece, Wendy (Laughton) Walters. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at Riverside Cemetery, Newport. A reception will be held afterward at Peoples United Methodist Church, Newport.
