GLENBURN and BREWER Madeline R. Caruso, 90, wife of the late Francis E. Caruso Sr., died Oct. 16, 2008, with her loving family at her side, at a local health care center after a long illness. She was born Aug. 9, 1918, in Holden. Madeline was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and was also most child-caring for countless other children. She will be remembered for the love of her huge family holiday gatherings. Surviving are nine children, Don Boynton and his wife, Linda, of Eddington, Richard Boynton and his wife, Pat, of Iowa, Carol Saunders of Old Town, Linda Caruso of Eddington, Susie Tippen and her husband, Chuck, of Tennessee, Judy Turcotte and her husband, Raymond, of Glenburn, Francis E. Caruso Jr. of New Hampshire, Robert Caruso and his wife, Vicki, of Hampden, Ted Caruso and his wife, Susan, of Holden; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Boynton of Glenburn; 21 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Gerald Boynton; and two grandchildren, Andrew Modery and Melissa Caruso. Madeline’s family would like to say thank you to all the registered nurses and certified nurses’ aides that gave our mother such excellent and outstanding care and also thank you to the many that gave mother that extra care and you will know who you are. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20, with her grandson, the Rev. Francis E. Caruso III, officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Glenburn.
