FALMOUTH – Stanley Lee Gordon, 89, died at his home on Middle Road, Oct. 17, 2008. He was born on March 27, 1919, on the family farm in Medway, to Faye and Emma Morine Gordon. Stan served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked for George’s Garage operating heavy equipment and started his own contracting company in 1946, retiring in 1977. One of Stan’s last wishes was that he could be outside operating a bulldozer. He earned his 50 year pin from Hiram Lodge AF & AM, South Portland, and was a member of Skillins Riders Model A Ford Club, of which he was very proud to be a part of right up to the time of his death. Stan restored a ’24 Dodge, ’29 Model A 2 door, ’31 Roadster and a ’31 Coupe. He was most proud of his Roadster and just recently had his son, David drive a young couple to their wedding in it. Least of all, we do not want to forget his team that he spent many hours late at night cheering on, the Boston Red Sox. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Donald and Carlton Gordon; daughter, Donna Faye Mccarthy; and wives, Leah Robbins Gordon and Carolyn Gordon. He is survived by daughter, Charleen Gordon Wiseman of Castine; and son, David Lee Gordon of Winn; as well as grandchildren, Buddy Martin, Tiffani Baldacci, Goody-B Wiseman, Susan McCarthy, Billy McCarthy, Mark McCarthy, Doug Gordon and Michael Gordon; many great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. A special note of thanks to Brian Gordon and friends of the family, Eleanor Randall and Axel and Mary Berg. Visiting hours will be held 1-3 p.m. Sunday with a celebtation of life 3 p.m. at Lindquist Funeral Home, One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Stanley’s memory to Hospice of Maine, 50 Foden Road, South Portland, ME 04106. You are invited to share your thoughts, condolences and memories with the Gordon family by visiting Stanley’s guest book at www.mem.com.
