JONESPORT – Charles Edwin Harmon, 69, passed away Oct. 22, 2008, at a Bangor hospital, after a brief illness. He was born Feb. 18, 1939, in Jonesport, the son of George and Arline (Johnson) Harmon. He graduated from Jonesport High School, Class of 1956, and then joined the U.S. Coast Guard, serving for four years. He then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as master sergeant in 1979. He served in the Vietnam War in 1969. Charles received various honorary medals while serving his country. He was an active member of American Legion Post No. 108. Charles’ love for the military was evident in his daily life. He always looked forward to Veteran’s Day and Memorial Day services. He was proud to be a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and loved his country. Charles was a master mason and a member of Jonesport Lodge No. 188 AF & AM, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a longtime member of Anah Temple Shrine, Bangor. Charles is survived by his loving wife, Faythe (Davis) Harmon; one brother, George “Sonny” Harmon and wife, Jolene; nephew, George A. Harmon and wife, Kathy; niece, Kathy Crane and husband, David, and their children, Kimberly and Tracie and her fiance, George, and their children, Tyler and Jenna; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Robert and Elna Davis; brothers-in-law, George Davis and wife, Carol, and Robert David Jr. and wife, Judy; niece, Renee Gray and husband, Michael; nephews, Roger Davis and Lee Davis; and a special great-niece, Melody Gray. Charles is also survived by three stepchildren and special stepgrandchildren, Taylor and Aiden Stewart, Jocelyn Smith and Joshua Derdarian. Charles had many special friends, including Bob Lakin and Alissa Stewart. He was predeceased by his parents; a nephew, Roger Harmon; and a very special friend, Maxine Lakin. Charles loved to travel with his wife, Faythe, and he touched the lives of many people both far and near. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, at United Pentecostal Church, Jonesport, with Pastor Steve Bertrand and Pastor George Woodward officiating.
