FORT FAIRFIELD – Millicent M. Johndro, 80, wife of the late Fabian P. Johndro, passed away Sunday morning, Oct. 26, 2008, at her residence, after an extended illness. She was born Aug. 11, 1928, in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Percy and Ethel (Dean) Whitmore. She attended Green Ridge Country School, Fort Fairfield, and was married to Fabian P. Johndro, May 19, 1949. Mrs. Johndro had been employed at Birdseye Processing Plant, Caribou, for 30 years, and later worked at the former Community General Hospital, Fort Fairfield, until her retirement in 1990. She was a communicant of St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield, and a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Fort Fairfield. She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, Millicent was predeceased by her husband Fabian, Jan. 17, 1995; her son, Gary P. Johndro, June 18, 1976; five brothers, Harold, Perry, Preston, William and Vinal Whitmore; and two sisters, Hazel Todd and Clara Cheney. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Ricky Boulier, Connie and Robert Jarvis, and Debra and David MacDougal, all of Fort Fairfield; seven grandchildren, Michelle Stangeby, Sherie Erikson, Troy Ladner, Kevin Helstrom, Tharren and Karen MacDougal, all of Fort Fairfield and Scott Johndro of New Jersey; 13 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, including a very special nephew, Kenneth Cheney of South Portland. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where a vigil service will be conducted 7:30 p.m. by the Rev. Aaron Damboise, and 9:30 a.m. until departure for the church Wednesday morning at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, at St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main St., Fort Fairfield, with the Rev. Aaron Damboise, celebrant. Interment will held at St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held at VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield, after the interment service. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Johndro to VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, 130 Presque Isle St., Fort Fairfield, ME 04742.
