HANCOCK – Gordon E. Kelley, 76, husband of Albertina Kelley, died Oct. 24, 2008. Gordon was born June 17, 1932, in Boston, the son of Ina Grier. Gordon was a U.S. Air Force veteran, a member of American Legion Post No. 63 of Ellsworth, a member of the Korean War Veterans’ Association of Bangor, former fire chief of Hancock Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the HAM Radio Club of Ellsworth – known to his amatuer radio friends as N1RGP. He loved to play golf, go fishing and hunting, gardening and gather at family outings and celebrations, where he was affectionately known as Papa. He is survived by his wife, Albertina; daughter, Eve Wilkinson and her husband, Steve, of Gouldsboro; son, Kevin Kelley and his wife, Faye, of Hancock; grandchildren, Heather Temple, Tonya Wilkinson, Kirsten Raven, Aaron Kelley and Jennifer Kelley; great-grandchildren, Sage, Jai, Delaney and Hadleigh; as well as many dear friends. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Ellsworth, with a military honors graveside service immediately after at Riverside Cemetery, Hancock.
