SOUTH ADDISON – Margaret O. Johnson passed away peacefully Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, surrounded by her loving family, at her home on Mooseneck Road. She was born June 13, 1926, the daughter of Willard J. Witham and Phylis E. Cates Witham. Maggie managed the restaurant at the University Motor Inn, Orono, during the 1980s. She married Donald K. Johnson in 1945 and resided in Augusta prior to moving to Baytown, Texas, in 1957. They returned to Maine in 1972 and settled in South Addison. She will be fondly remembered for her quick wit and many acts of kindness. She was predeceased by her husband; her brother, Donald J. Witham; and great-granddaughter, Sydney Erin Lee. She is survived by her children, Judith M. Johnson-Marsano and her husband, Richard Marsano, of Augusta, Jacquelyn J. Majors and her husband, William W. Majors, of Milbridge, Ralph W. Johnson of Avon, Ohio, Douglas K. Johnson and his wife, Dana Johnson, of South Addison and Tonya L. Johnson of Hobe Sound, Fla.; her two sisters, Hilma Millet of Norridgewock and Helen Nasberg and her husband of Chelsea. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Dane Fayle, Lindsey Cates Lee, Shannon Johnson Tyler, Kelley Johnson, Gigi Johnson, Douglas W. Johnson and Casey Hayes; four great-grandchildren, Devin Lee, Addison Fayle, Olivia Tyler and Emma Tyler; by many nephews, nieces and cousins; and survived by her dog, Lily. The family thanks her good friend and caregiver, Charlene Cirone; and her good friend and physician, Alf Wakeman, for their loving care which enabled her to remain in her home. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no funeral service. Maggie planned her own wake, which she celebrated with family and friends on her 80th birthday.
