MILLINOCKET – New harmony was added to the heavenly chorus when Dorothy Barbara “Dot” (McDonald) Kelley entered into the presence of her Lord and awaiting loved ones Monday, Oct. 27, 2008. She was born October 1924, in Millinocket, the eldest daughter of Michael and Hazel (Wright) McDonald. Dot was a member of Stearns High School, Class of 1943. In May 1944, she married Harold Kelley and together they shared 53 years of love and commitment. There was no limit to her devotion to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, her husband, her family, her church, her friends and to her love of music. She was a longstanding member of Millinocket Baptist Church adult choir and for many years, she directed the church’s junior choir. Dot was active on various boards during her many years of service to her church, and was also a dedicated member of Millinocket Philharmonics Club. She was Dot of, Dot and the Has Beens, who provided years of musical ministry to nursing facilities, variety shows, community functions and parades throughout the state. Dot leaves a family that includes her son, Terry Kelley; her daughter, Linda Angotti and her husband, Robert, all of Millinocket; granddaughter, and great-granddaughter, Amy and Halle Lou Alexis Nelson of Randolph, Mass.; sisters, Mary McInnis and Shirley Fernald of Millinocket, and Margaret Fayle and her husband, Robert, of East Millinocket; a brother, Raymond MacDonald and his wife, Barbara, of Sanford; sisters-in-law, Ingrid MacDonald of Tucson, Ariz., and Florence McDonald of Wheat Ridge, Colo.; a brother-in-law, Raymond Astle of Millinocket; and many nieces, nephews and cousins; special and wonderful friends; as well as her stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren, Matthew and Maureen Angotti and sons, Christopher and Jack, of Saco, and Daniel and Julie Angotti and children, April, Alex, Abigail and Raveena, of Ludlow. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Harold, in 1997; infant daughter, Betty Lou; sister, Alice Astle; and brothers, Howard, Mitchell, Ernest, Frank, John and Angus. Dot touched many lives with her unending examples of unconditional love, hospitality, and graciousness. Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-9 p.m. Thursday at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, and 10-11 a.m. Friday at Millinocket Baptist Church, 297 Penobscot Ave., Millinocket, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. with the Rev.
