MILLINOCKET – Leonard R. LaPoint, 57, passed away Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, at a Bangor hospital. He was born May 4, 1951, in Lincoln, the son of James E. and Delphine R. (Guillow) LaPoint. Len was a social member at the Millinocket VFW, where he enjoyed playing pool. He also loved fishing, camping and spending time with his grandchildren. Len is survived by his wife of 33 years, Gail (Cyr) LaPoint; a son, Nicholas LaPoint and his girlfriend, Shena; a daughter, Renee LaPoint and her boyfriend, Bruce; two granddaughters, Makayla and Gracie; a sister, Judy Robbins and her husband, Larry, all of Millinocket; a brother, James LaPoint of Old Orchard; three sisters-in-law, Mariette Gimmartino of Rocky Hill, Conn., Louise Tapley of Holden and Janette Cunningham and her husband, Howard, of Rocky Hill, Conn.; three brothers-in-law, Real Cyr of Millinocket, Alan Cyr and his wife, Dianne, of Hermon, and Paul Cyr of Bangor; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends who he loved dearly. He will also be missed by his best canine buddy, Chico. In addition to his parents, Len was predeceased by a sister, Cynthia Murphy; and a brother-in-law, Jesse Gimmartino. Friends are invited to visit with the family 1-3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, with memorial services beginning 3 p.m. with Deacon Danny Watson officiating.
