SHERBORN, Mass. – Neil R. Shorey, 64, formerly of Medway, Mass., died Oct. 30, 2008, at the Stanley Tippett Home, Needham, Mass. He was the husband of Laurie (Foreman) Shorey. Born March 24, 1944, in Bangor, son of the late Ralph and Elena (Mutch) Shorey-Lindman, he was also the stepson of the late Alex Lindman of Sweden. Mr. Shorey was raised in Veazie and had lived in Medway, Mass., for many years prior to moving to Sherborn, Mass., 27 years ago. Mr. Shorey was the owner and sales representative for Homewares Marketing. Mr. Shorey enjoyed kayaking and to be at Lead Mountain Pond. Neil’s family was the most important thing to him and anytime he was with them, he was his happiest. He was a member of Sherborn Cable Committee. Mr. Shorey had long been active in Scouting in Medway, Mass., and had mentored 30 boys on to become Eagle Scouts. Mr. Shorey was deeply involved with West Medway Community Church and had served on many committees. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Tammi York and her husband, Tim, of Newport; sons, Neil Shorey and his wife, Edie, of Amherst, and Todd Shorey of Sherborn, Mass. He is also survived by his sister, Alice Gilbert and her husband, Bill, of Fairfield; and was the brother of the late Ruth Shields. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Emily Shorey, Bethany York and Alyssa Lewis; and his great-granddaughter, Grace Kelso. Calling hours will be held 5-9 p.m. Monday at Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St., Medway, Mass. His funeral service will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, at Community Church of West Medway.
