BANGOR, Maine – Johnny Warren and Ryan Larochelle each scored a goal as the No. 1 Bangor boys soccer team earned a 2-0 win over No. 4 Mount Ararat of Topsham Saturday evening at the high school field.

The Rams, now 15-0-1, move to the Eastern Maine Class A final against the winner of Saturday’s other semifinal between No. 2 Brunswick and No. 6 Messalonskee of Oakland.

The Eagles wrap up their season with a 12-4 record.

Bangor dominated play for most of the game and outshot Mount Ararat 11-0 late in the first half, but the Rams didn’t score until the final minute of the period. Larochelle touched in a ball off a blast from Nick George with 25 seconds left in the half to give Bangor a 1-0 lead.

Once again, Bangor commanded the second half and got a key insurance goal from Warren with 18 minutes, 3 seconds to go in the game. The Rams then fell back into defensive mode to secure the shutout for goalie Bud Angst, who saved all three shots he faced.

Mount Ararat’s Matt Bickford was solid in goal, stopping a couple of hard-hit shots from Warren, George and others. Bickford finished with 10 saves on 19 shots. Backup Alex Dolan recorded one save on two shots, both in the second half.
