AUGUSTA – Dorothy A. Perkins Luce, 66, of Boucher Avenue, died unexpectedly Oct. 31, 2008, at the emergency room of MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta. She was born Feb. 7, 1942, in St. John, New Brunswick, the daughter of Francis H. Perkins and Joyce E. (Prior) Perkins. Dorothy was a 1960 graduate of Newport High School and she received an associate degree in accounting from the University of Maine at Augusta. Prior to her retirement in 1994, she was employed by the state of Maine for many years. She started her career with the Department of Health and Human Services. She later moved to the Department of Education and the Department of Agriculture. Dorothy married Arnold A. Luce Jr., in 1990 and he died Dec. 6, 1993. In addition to her husband, she was also predeceased by her father. Surviving is her mother, Joyce E. Nelson of Newport; one sister, Patricia Fuller of Topsham; one brother, Harold Nelson and his wife, Deborah, of Newport; and several nephews. There will be no public visiting hours. Committal prayers will be offered 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, in the chapel at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta.
