BREWER – George Barker, 100, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008, at a Bangor health care facility. He was born March 31, 1908, in East Millinocket, the son of Charles and Lilla (Banks) Barker. George enjoyed a 69-year career in auto supply. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Orono, and Orrington Grange. George volunteered at Eastern Maine Medical Center and was a delivery driver for Meals for Me. George is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Janet (Littlefield) Barker; daughter, Jean Tardiff of Merchantville, N.Y.; son, James Barker of Fresno, Calif.; stepson, Robert Leathers and his wife, Sherry, of Brewer; stepdaughters, Linda Sargent of Bangor and Mary Stucker and her husband, Jeffrey, of Independence, Mo.; sister, Alberta Eaton of Brewer; five grandchildren, 11 great- grandchildren, nine stepgrandchildren and two great-stepgrandchildren. George was predeceased by his first wife, Regina (Babine) Barker; four brothers, five sisters; and his son-in-law, David Tardiff. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, with the Rev. David Natale, pastor of Faith Baptist Church, Orono, officiating. Interment will be afterward at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor.
