CARIBOU – Kevin Engstrom, 49, husband of Lura (Charette) Engstrom, died unexpectedly Nov. 3, 2008, in Presque Isle. Kevin was born June 30, 1959, in Caribou, the son of Norman and Alvina (Slipp) Engstrom. He was employed by Daigle Oil as a delivery driver and burner technician. Prior to that, he was a long haul driver for McCain Transport. Kevin will always be remembered first and foremost as a “family man.” He and Lura, his wife of 21 years, were inseparable. Kevin was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and uncle. He was an easy-going, quiet and hardworking man who was liked by everyone who knew him, often placing the needs of others ahead of himself. He looked at the positive side of life. He enjoyed outdoor activities, whether it was four-wheeling, golfing or spending valuable time with his beloved grandchildren in the backyard. Kevin was predeceased by his parents, Norman and Alvina Engstrom; his maternal grandparents, Edgar and Myrtle (Hill) Slipp; and his paternal grandparents, Albert and Elvira (Johnson) Engstrom. Kevin is survived by his wife, Lura (Charette) Engstrom; two daughters, Sonja and Nichole Engstrom, both of Caribou; a brother and sister-in-law, Warren and Helen (McAtee) Engstrom of Connor; five grandchildren, Dade, Olivia, Ahlanda Engstrom and Ivy Riopelle, all of Caribou and Mason McBreairty of Shelby, N.C.; a niece and nephew, Meagan and Mikeal Engstrom of Connor; a mother-in-law, Beverly (Smith) Charette of Caribou; an uncle, Cecil Slipp of Portsmouth, N.H.; and a special niece, Judith Ekman of Columbia, Mo. Kevin will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, from the chapel of Mockler Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Rosser officiating.
