ROCHESTER, N.H. – Reginald L. Ouellette, 78, of 27 Westview Drive, died Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, at Ports-mouth Regional Hospital, after a long illness. He was born Aug. 22, 1930, in North Caribou, son of Reuben and Berthe (Gagnon) Ouellette. He had been a resident of Rochester, N.H., since 1976, and previously lived in Europe, while serving his country. He was a graduate of Hawthorne College, with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Mr. Ouellette proudly served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, retiring after 22 1/2 years of dedicated service, as a sergeant first class. He received many medals from the Army and European countries. After his service in the military, he worked from 1977 to 1990 at Sprague Energy, prior to retirement. Reggie was a hero to everyone who knew him. In 1990 he was injured and became paralyzed from the waist down. For the past 18 years, he lived his life with optimism, courage, dignity, pride and strength. He was truly an inspiration. He was happily married to Pauline (Michaud) Ouellette for more than 53 years, prior to her death in March 2007. He and Pauline always supported their children and grandchildren in all their endeavors. Family members include his children, Fredrick Ouellette of Somersworth, N.H., Reuben Ouellette and wife, Martha, of Springfield, Vt., Nora Sevigny and husband, William, of New Durham, N.H., David Ouellette and wife, Robin Carlson, of Rochester, N.H., Ivan Ouellette and wife, Amanda, of Rochester, N.H., and Dottie Gibbons and husband, Robert, of Wolfeboro, N.H.; his grandchildren, Brian, Melissa, Fred and fianc?e, Priscilla, Joshua, Kelly, Lisa, Nicole, Jaime, Samuel, Billy and Tess; and great-grandson, Gabriel. He also leaves his caretaker and best friend, John Plaisted; and his close friends and former neighbors, Jerry and Nancy Thibodeau, and Irene Berry. And, let’s not forget his two loyal dogs, Buddy and Oliver, who brought him tremendous joy. Visiting hours will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Beacon Funeral Chapel, 75 Allen St., Rochester, N.H. A concelebrated Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Rochester, N.H. Burial will be afterward at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Rochester, N.H.
