BAR HARBOR – Paula Diane Lambert, 54, died unexpectedly in her sleep Nov. 3, 2008, in Bar Harbor. She was born March 6, 1954, in Bar Harbor, the daughter of Robert E. and Eva L. (Stroder) Shelton. Paula worked as a nurse’s aide at Mount Desert Island Hospital and at Sonogee Nursing Home. She went on to private care giving for many years until she felt the need to take time for herself so she would be ready and able to care for her own family when the time came, as it did. She then took care of both her parents until their deaths. Paula will be remembered for her wonderful cooking. She was always cooking for her family and friends or sharing her bounty with those in need. Although she never raised any children of her own, she was a loving stepmom and grammy. A very special “Auntie Paula” to her nieces and nephews, and their friends, neighborhood kids and the children of her own friends. Paula’s sense of humor was wonderful and will long out live her. Her love of laughter was such a gift. Halloween was her favorite time of the year. She anticipated and looked forward to it more with each year. Her home on Ledglawn was top on the list of places to stop to view the decorations. This one was sadly her last. Paula is survived by her beloved husband, George “Butch” R. Lambert III; two stepdaughters, Kimberly Yankowsky and husband, Jim, of Buxton, and Angelina Justice and husband, Tom, of Louisville, Ky.; two sisters, Jan Hanscom and husband, John, of Bar Harbor, and Sherry Vaughan of Ashville, N.C.; her aunt, Dola Stroder of Fort Worth, Texas; five grandchildren, Matthew, Steve, Sean, Emma and Duncan; 15 nieces and nephews, six great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins and many very special friends. She was predeceased by her parents. Memorial services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7, at St. Saviour’s Episcopal Church, 41 Mount Desert St., Bar Harbor, with the Rev. Mary-Carol Griffin officiating. Contributions in Paula’s memory may be made to MDI Lifeline Program, care of Linda Herrick, P.O.
