ELLSWORTH – Vera M. Hodgdon, 88, formerly of Toddy Pond, wife of the late George A. Hodgdon, died peacefully Nov. 5, 2008, surrounded by her loving family at her Ellsworth home, after a long battle with cancer. She was born Sept. 28, 1920, in Alton, the daughter of Frederick and Lillian (Taylor) Rosemeier. Vera was a homemaker who dedicated herself to her husband and three sons. She is survived by her sons, Charles Ronald Hodgdon and his wife, Gloria, of Levant, Warren Hodgdon and his wife, Linda, of Venice, Fla., and Alan Hodgdon of Bar Harbor; eight grandchildren, Penny Goodie of Glenburn, David Hodgdon of Alton, Ronda Sangillo of Gray, Arthur Hodgdon of Levant, Marion Arnold of Kenduskeag, Theresa Monahan of South Riding, Va., Christopher and Paul Hodgdon of San Diego; 13 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; one niece, Carolyn Sargent; and three nephews, John, Mark and Scott Rosemeier. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, Dickie and Will Rosemeier; and her sister, Gertrude Mallory. Friends may call 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, with the Rev.
