MESA, Ariz. – Gertrude “Gerri” (Dunn) Studer, 75, died peacefully Nov. 8, 2008, with family at her side while at Hospice of the Valley, after a lengthy illness. She was born Aug. 3, 1933, in Winterville, daughter of the late Gertrude (Tardie) and Theodore Dunn. Gerri was dedicated to her self-built business, Center for Better Hearing, selling and servicing hearing aids. She was a welcome sight at many local nursing homes and residences not only for her work, but also for her quick and ready wit. “No one could tell a joke like Gerri!” The life of the party during numerous family reunions and gatherings throughout the years, she will be greatly missed. Family and friends were important to her. She is survived by her children; daughter, Ann Marie Schaub of Mesa Ariz.; two sons, Robert and wife, Cherie, of Phoenix, and William and wife, Tammy, of Hiesperie, Calif.; three brothers, James Dunn of Presque Isle, Joseph “Pat” Dunn and wife, Louise, of Sevierville, Tenn., and Gordon Dunn and wife, Paula, of Hampden; two sisters, Pearl Paradis and husband, Harvey Austin, of Rome, Maine, and Bernice Schaaf of Plantsville, Conn.; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and her beloved cats. She was predeceased by two brothers, Kenneth and John Dunn. Her wish was to be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a future date in her home state of Maine.
