CORINNA – Mary C. McManus, 93, former longtime resident of 22 Pond St., Pittsfield, Mass., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008. She was born Oct. 2, 1915, in Pittsfield, Mass., the daughter of John T. and Elizabeth R. Sitzman Cronin. She attended local schools and was a 1933 graduate of Pittsfield (Mass.) High School. She continued her studies as a graduate of the former Berkshire Business College. Mrs. McManus was employed as a secretary at the Christian Center for 18 years, retiring in 1991. Previously, she was employed at General Electric in the payroll department and also worked at the original 7-Up Bottling Co., all in Pittsfield, Mass. After her retirement, she moved to Corinna to make her home. While in Pittsfield, Mass., she was a communicant of St. Josephs Church and a member of its rosary sodality. In Maine, she was a communicant of Our Lady of the Snows, Dexter. Her husband, the late James V. McManus, died Dec. 21, 1990. She leaves her son, Michael K. McManus and his wife, Virginia, of Durham; her daughter, Maureen E. Coons and her husband, George, of Corinna; five grandchildren; and one sister, Dolores T. Daigle of Avon, Mass. She was predeceased by her brother, John W. Cronin; and her sisters, E. Barbara Rudd and Anna G. Gramkowski. Calling hours will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Corinna.
