BANGOR and ORLAND Matthew L. Costigan, 31, died unexpectedly Nov. 11, 2008, at his home in Bangor. He was born Oct. 26, 1977, in Bangor, the son of David P. and Flora J. (Dorr) Costigan. Matthew graduated from Burnt-Hills/Ballston Lake High School, Burnt-Hills, N.Y., and attended Paul Smith College in the culinary arts program. Matt was very creative, enjoyed cooking, art, music and animals, and loved his cat, Mercy. He is survived by his parents, Dave and Flora Costigan of Orland; brother, Christopher Costigan of Bend, Ore.; grandfather, Louis Costigan of Falmouth; aunts and uncles, including Myrtle Pendleton of Orland, Isaac Dorr and wife, Barbara, of Bucksport, Robert Costigan and wife, Nancy, of Bar Mills, Steven Costigan and wife, Berta, of Hermon, Dana Costigan and wife, Donna, of Freeport, and Darrell Costigan and wife, Jeanne, of Durham; several cousins, and many friends in Maine and New York. He was predeceased by his grandfather and grandmother, Isaac and Marjorie Dorr; grandmother, Rebecca Costigan; and uncle, James Costigan. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, at Mitchell-Tweedie, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Orland. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 80 Elm St., Portland, ME 04101.
