BANGOR – Joanne Evelyn Crawford, 72, died Nov. 14, 2008, at a local hospital. She was born Jan. 12, 1936, in North Amity, daughter of Milo Eagers and Mildred (Carr) Eagers Oliver. Joanne was a graduate of Ricker Classical Institute, Houlton and Eastern Maine General Hospital School of Nursing. She had been employed as a registered nurse at Eastern Maine Medical Center and Bangor State Hospital, now Bangor Mental Health Institute. Joanne was a member of West Glenburn Community Club and was an avid Beano player in Glenburn and Kenduskeag. Surviving are her loving husband of 51 years, Walter L. “Mickey” Crawford Jr. of Bangor; two children, Walter L. “Mickey” Crawford III of Glenburn, and Susan R. Nealey and her husband, Nathan, of Westbrook; eight grandchildren, Meghan, Justin, Jessa, Gabrielle, Dylan, Nicole, Corey and Ashley; several great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marjorie “Sue” Cassidy of Houlton, Ruth Stewart and her husband, Avon, of North Amity and Cathy Green and her husband, Tim, of Florida; one brother, Charles Eagers and his wife, Teresa, of Farmington; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. A special thanks to Mickey’s niece, Ann Fitz, for her love and devotion to Joanne. She was predeceased by her parents; and one son, Douglas Crawford. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held 9:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 17, with the Rev. Roland Nadeau, Catholic chaplain at St. Joseph Hospital, officiating. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments after the service Monday at Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor.
