EAST MILLINOCKET – Edward E. Vinson, 84, loving husband, father, grand-father, great-grandfather and brother, died peacefully Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, at Millinocket Regional Hospital. He was born July 1, 1924, in Mc-Roberts, Ky., son of James and Beulah (Satterfield) Vinson. Edward was an Army veteran of World War II, serving nine months as a sergeant with the 97th Infantry Division in France and Germany, and in the Western Pacific Theater. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 13 in East Millinocket. Edward worked at Great Northern Paper Co., East Millinocket, for 17 years in quality control and the maintenance department. He was an active member of Machinists Local No. 362. In 1970 Edward was elected to the position of Business Representative to District No. 99 of the International Association of Machinists, where he worked until his retirement in 1986. Edward also served as a member of the Maine Vocational Education Advisory Board. He was a member of First Congregational Church of East Millinocket and served on various boards and committees through the years. Edward also enjoyed refereeing basketball games, as well as fishing and hunting. Edward is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mabel (Runnells) Vinson of East Millinocket; a son, Stephen Vinson and his wife, Pamela, of Millinocket; a daughter, Carol Sarantakos and her husband, Elliot, of New Gloucester; four grandchildren, Aaron Vinson and his wife, Julie, of Bucksport, Sara Libby of Portland, Bruce O’Donal of Sabattus and Jennifer O’Donal of Topsham; six great-grandchildren, Braydon, Nicholas, Connor, Taylor, Nikayla and Austin; three bro-thers, James Vinson and his wife, Nova Lee, of Dearborn Heights, Mich., the Rev. Richard Vinson and his wife, Juanita, of Rio Grande, Ohio, and the Rev. Ray Vinson and his wife, Joyce, of Falmouth, Va.; a special nephew, Russell Bulick of Hermitage, Tenn.; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Edward was predeceased by three sisters, Catherine, Ida Mary and Dorothy; and two brothers, Charles and Donald. Friends are invited to visit with the family 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Lamson Funeral Home, 17 Western Ave., East Millinocket. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wed-nesday at First Congregational Church of East Millinocket, Church Street, with the Rev. Andrew MacLeod, pastor, officiating. Interment with military honors will be at East Millinocket Cemetery.
