MANASSAS, Va. – Jean Harvey Pratt, 92, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard E. Harvey of Portland, died Nov. 13, 2008, in Bethesda, Md. Jean attended St. Joseph’s Academy, Deering High School and St. Joseph’s College. Jean was a social worker for the state of Maine and a teacher at Rosary Academy, New Orleans. As a U.S. Navy wife, she lived in many places, including London and Rome. Jean had many creative interests that include-ed, theater direction, painting, needle craft, 18th century gardening and crafting. Jean was an active volunteer with Navy Relief efforts and the Red Cross. Jean generated love for people, enthusiasm for life, and joy in her faith! Jean is survived by her hus-band, Capt. William V. Pratt II, 96, U.S. Navy, retired, of Bethesda, Md.; son, Col. Andrew “Nick” Pratt, U.S. Marine Corps, retired, of Garmisch, Germany; daughter, Mary Pratt Holcomb of Manassas, Va.; sister, Mary Dorothy McGrady of Denver; and seven grandchildren. The family will receive fri-ends 2-4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center St., Manassas, Va. The Mass of Christian burial will be offered 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21, at All Saints Catholic Church, 9300 Stonewall Road, Manassas, Va. Interment will be held 9 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to All Saints Building Fund.
