LINWOOD S. BUNKER JR. FORT MYERS, Fla. – Linwood S. Bunker Jr., known to most as Sterling Bunker, pas-sed away Oct. 18, 2008, in St. Petersburg, Fla. Sterling was born Dec. 3, 1916, in Brewer, son of Susie and Linwood S. Bunker. Sterling, schooled in the Methodist Seminary and Bucksport High School, was a member of their first graduating class. He married his high school sweetheart, Charlotte Cushing. Sterling worked at Eastern Fine Paper Co., Brewer, for about 10 years, and upon it’s closing ran a Shell service station for two years, before moving to Miami. Sterling was a 30-year cancer survivor. He worked for MacArthur Dairy for 27 years and retired as a plant manager in 1978. Sterling and Charlotte traveled by RV and spent most summers in Orland. Sterling had a strong desire to see the new bridge in Bucksport, as he watched it being built on his computer, also remembering the first bridge built. In 2007 his son, Wayne and wife, Gloria, took Charlotte and Sterl in their motor home to see the complete bridge, and to have one more campfire with friends and family at Orland’s Whispering Pines Campground. Mr. Bunker is survived by his wife, Charlotte Bunker; son, Wayne Bunker and his wife, Gloria; daughter, Carol and her husband, Robert Bottoms; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, many cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held Saturday, Nov. 7, in the Orange Harbor Club House at Orange Harbor Mobile Home Park, Fort Myers, Fla. After giving up traveling by RV, this is where they lived and made many wonderful friends in their last years together.
