TRESCOTT – Courtney Dale Hupp, 79, went home to be with the Lord Nov. 21, 2008. He was born Sept. 14, 1929, in Oakland, Calif., the youngest of six children to Roscoe and Laura Hupp. In 1946 he joined the Coast Guard and was stationed in Portland on air/sea rescue, where he met and married his wife of more than 60 years, Beatrice Beal of Woolwich. He attended Maine Vocational Technical Institute and used his electrical training at Bath Iron Works and New England Telephone. He then returned to the education field as a founding faculty member of Central Maine Vocational Technical Institue, Auburn. For more than 40 years, he was every man’s pastor. His church families include West Harpswell Baptist, Glenwood Square Baptist, Five Islands Second Baptist, Georgetown Baptist, Farmington Falls Union Baptist and West Lubec Methodist Church. He was compassionate and passionate about his faith and sharing the Good News here and through his lifelong support of missionaries around the world. He will be lovingly remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor, encouragement, grace, generosity, can-do attitude and the ability to whistle any tune any time. He is survived by his wife, four children, Daniel, Brenda, Timothy and Judith; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two brothers, a sister, and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, at West Lubec Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Dale Hupp Mission Fund, care of Bar Harbor Bank & Trust, 68 Washington St., Lubec, ME 04652. Arrangements are under the care of Direct Cremation of Maine, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast. 2 Timothy 4:7-8
