FORT KENT – Isabel Bouchard, 90, died peacefully Nov. 20, 2008, at a Fort Kent health care facility. Isabel was born Sept. 25, 1918, in Frenchville, the daughter of Phylias and Isabelle (Martin) Caron. Isabel attended Madawaska Training School and was a farm wife while her son was growing up. She worked for the school lunch program for many years and retired in 1993, after several years as the seamstress at Forest Hill Manor. After her husband died, she sold the farm and moved to Park Circle apartments until going into assisted living at High View Manor, Madawaska, in 2003. She eventually moved to Crosswinds when it opened, until her move to Forest Hill Manor in March of this year. She was a member of a widow’s support group and did a fair amount of traveling, including many trips to Quebec, a tour across Canada to Vancouver, a trip to Hawaii, several trips to Nashville, in addition to numerous trips to wherever members of her family resided, including Orono, Westchester, Pa., and Fairfax, Va. On her last trip to Virginia in 2001, she visited the Shenandoah River Valley, Blue Ridge Mountains and toured the Delmarva Peninsula. Her passion was volunteering, for which she received several recognitions. She was very religious and was a perpetual volunteer, especially for organizations involving the church, including Good Shepherd and Hospital Guild, and she was a leading volunteer for the Bouchard Reunion in 1990. She was member of the Ladies of St. Anne and a eucharistic minister at St. Louis Church. Saying the rosary was her favorite pastime and she could always be counted upon to lead the rosary. She is survived by her son, Carl Edward and his wife, Janet (Gilchrist) Bouchard, of Fairfax, Va., and Milford, Del.; grandson, Stephen Edward Bouchard of Stone Ridge, Va.; granddaughter, Janice Leigh and husband, David Hall, of Milford, Del.; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Carl, Andrew David and Katya Hall of Milford, Del.; brothers-in-law, Bertram and wife, Lola Bouchard, of Fort Kent, Bernard and wife, Phronie Bouchard, of Clearwater, Fla., Leon and wife, Aline Bouchard, of Sebring, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Rena Caron of Hartford, Conn., Theresa Young of Sebring, Fla., Phyllis Brimecombe of Simsbury, Conn., Florence Bouchard of Scarborough and Sarah and husband, Daniel Corrow, of Newport Richey, Fla.; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Gilman Leonide Bouchard in 1981; one sister, Lillian Raymond; and her younger brother, Omer. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday and 8-9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Soldier Pond. Committal services will be after at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Kent.
