LAKELAND, Fla. – James R. Clark, 84, died Nov. 13, 2008, surrounded by his loving family at home in Florida. He was born Jan. 1, 1924, in Sherman, the son of Maurice J. and Minerva J. (Bragdon) Clark. In 1934 he graduated as master aircraft mechanic from New England Aircraft School, Boston. Soon after he joined the Army Air Corps, serving as flight engineer on a B-24 in the Pacific. He was the youngest member of his crew. Mr. Clark was a member of Washburn Memorial Church, Kathleen, Fla., and Molunkus Lodge No. 165, AF & AM of Sherman, and was a life member of the VFW. It was in California that he met his wife, Georgia Aline (Richey) Clark and raised three children. He lived most of his adult life in the San Fernando Valley. His work experience was vast and most recently he worked at Publix market, Lakeland, Fla. He is survived by his daughter, Jamie (Clark) and Bill Goodwin of Sequim, Wash.; daughter, Ginny (Clark) Kaufman of Littleton; son, Phillip and Ginger Clark of Valencia, Calif.; his beloved grandchildren, Adam, Andrew, Kyle and Krista; and a brother, Bud Clark of Woodland Hills, Calif. Most recently he had been blessed to share his life with Vera Mitchell of Sherman. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife of 60 years; and a brother, Philip. He will be missed by many friends in Maine, California and Florida. His family thanks everyone for their love and prayers. A celebration of his life will be held next summer in Sherman.
