ORONO – Evelyn Hasbrouck Supple, 88, wife of 47 years to the late Robert V. Supple, died Dec. 1, 2008, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Oct. 10, 1920, in New Paltz, N.Y., the daughter of Stanley and Alice Hasbrouck. Evelyn graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree from State Teachers College, New Paltz, N.Y., in 1943. In 1948 she graduated from New York University with a Master of Arts degree, and in 1975 she graduated from the University of Maine with a Certificate of Advanced Study in teaching. Evelyn taught five years in New York state elementary schools and 34 years in the Bangor area elementary schools, including, Fairmount, 14th Street, Dow Lane and Mary Snow schools. She was predeceased by her husband and her parents. Surviving are a sister, Elaine Warringer of Weeki Wachee, Fla.; a brother and sister-in-law, Stanley and Eugenia Hasbrouck of Highland, N.Y.; very special friends, James and Christine Dunphy of Old Town; sister-in-law, Helen Guerin of Cooperstown, N.Y.; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held in the spring at Riverside Cemetery, Orono, at a time to be announced.
