ST. AGATHA – Winnie (Chasse) Sirois, 79, passed away Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, at a Frenchville health care facility after her short, courageous battle with lung and brain cancer. She was born Jan. 14, 1929, in St. Agatha, daughter of the late Albert Chasse and Helen Chamberland. Winnie was a devoted wife to local resident, Maurice Sirois for 61-plus years, mothering six children. Winnie was an avid knitter, an experienced seamstress and loved to play cards with family and friends. She enjoyed traveling with her husband for many years to Connecticut, Florida and Hawaii. She was a devoted Catholic and member of Ladies of St. Anne, spending countless hours with her friends donating her time and service at various reception functions. She was an American Legion Post No. 145 Ladies Auxiliary member, as well as a member of St. Agatha Fire Department Auxiliary. Winnie was predeceased by both her parents, and is welcomed with God by all of her family members; five brothers, Maurice, Varrice, Louis, Paul Emile and Clifford; her three sisters, Geraldine, Albertine and Doris; as well as three of her loving children, Camille, Marcel and Helen. She also joins two grandchildren, Randall and Tamara, in repose. A devoted wife to Maurice, and a lifetime happy St. Agatha resident all her life, she is survived by three of her six children, Jacqueline and her husband, Joel Daigle, of Florida, Paul Emile of Plainville, Conn., and Harold of Madawaska. In addition to her loving immediate family members, she is also survived by nine grandchildren, Shannon, Shawn, Stacey, Paul John, Stephen, Tammy, Todd, Jonathan and Andrea; and eight great-grandchildren, countless nephews, nieces and lifelong friends near and far. She bids us all a goodnight, and not goodbye, for she stays forever close in all our hearts, and waits patiently for us all to be welcomed again in her arms in life’s eternal light. The entire family extends their deepest heartfelt gratitude to St. Joseph’s Nursing Home and their staff, as well as all Visiting Nurses of Aroostook Hospice caregivers, especially Cecile Voisine, who took such good care of Winnie during her illness. We are also very appreciative of Bob and Gloria, and her dear neighbors and friends, as well as her “adopted” daughters, dear lifelong friends, Linda, Diane and Theresa, who all brought comfort to Winnie, and support to the family during her difficult medical ordeal. Family and friends may attend her viewing 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, and 8:30 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at Michaud Funeral Home, St. Agatha. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Agatha Catholic Church with the Rev. Phil Cyr officiating. Burial will be at St. Agatha Lower Cemetery.
