PRESQUE ISLE – Beverley Cray, 86, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, at a Presque Isle health care facility. He was born Aug. 4, 1922, in Chapman, the son of Frank and Ellen (Gardner) Cray. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Cray was a trained boiler operator and had been employed at the University of Maine – Presque Isle and later worked in maintenance for the city of Presque Isle. He was predeceased by his first wife, Irene Cray; his second wife, Winnifred (Chasse) Cassidy Cray; two brothers, David and Robert; and three sisters, Florence, Doris and Edith. He is survived by Irene’s daughter, Mary Lewandowski; Winnifred’s children, Dana Cassidy, Diane C. Smith, Karen Umphrey and Julie Cyr; several step-grandchildren and great-stepgrandchildren; and one sister, Gerty Shorey. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Raymond Morency, celebrant. Interment will be at South Side Cemetery, Mapleton.
