DEXTER – Mildred C. Bates, 92, died Dec. 9, 2008, at the home of her daughter in Dexter. She was born Sept. 2, 1916, in Sangerville, daughter of Asa A. and Lydia (Miller) Carle. Mildred worked at several of the local textile mills, retiring from Eastland Woolen, Corinna. She is survived by three sons, Laurence Bates and his wife, Beverly, of Dexter, Keith Bates of Greenville and Gary Bates and his wife, Maureen, of Dexter; four daughters, Margaret McKenney and her husband, Vernard, of Dexter, Eleanor Pratt and her husband, David, of Sangerville, Sylvia Larry of Newport and Beverly Potter and her husband, Dana, of Florida; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Helen Greene and her husband, Clayton, of Solon. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Clarence C. Bates; a son, Rodney Bates; and a daughter, Bonnie Breigan. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at Crosby & Neal, 61 Main St., Dexter. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Harold Wheeler officiating.
