SOUTH PORTLAND – Robert K. Golder Sr., 65, died unexpectedly Dec. 8, 2008, in Portland. Born July 27, 1943, in Westbrook, he was the son of the late Bernard and Willa Golder. Bob attended Westbrook schools and was a graduate of Westbrook High School. He spent several years in the military in the 1960s stationed in Germany, and was tank driver in the armored guard. Bob also was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Casco Bay Flotilla, for more than 20 years out of South Portland. Bob was owner of Golder & Associates, Portland. He loved amateur radio, and devoted much of his time to the hobby. He earned his tech and general tickets over the past two years, and was one of the primary Net Control stations on the Maritime Net, as well as handling local traffic. In past years he was an avid hunter and loved to spend time at his family’s hunting camp in Hollis, with his father and brothers. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy M. Golder; his son, Robert Golder Jr. of Arizona; daughter, Michelle Ballesteri of Las Vegas; stepchildren, Ian R. Golder, Curtis and Kendra Knobloch; brothers, Lewis Golder and his wife, Audrey, of Windham and Bernard Golder and his wife, Pamela, of Sebago. There was a deep admiration for Bob among his many friends and family. He was highly respected, and deeply loved. Bob will be greatly missed. Visiting hours will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, at Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13.
