ISLAND FALLS – William J. More, 70, died Dec. 10, 2008, in Houlton. He was born Aug. 17, 1938, in South Portland, the son of Clarence and Dorothy (Russell) More. He was a graduate of Danforth High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1961 to 1963. He was a veteran of Baskegan Lodge AF & AM, Scottish Rites and Anah Shrine, where he was a member of the Saau Nessu. He was retired after 30 years from UPS. In addition to his mother of Carmel, he is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sheila (Mailman) More of Island Falls; four children, Christine and Brett Lash of Hudson, William J. II and Michelle of Houlton, John and Julie Byers of Kenduskeag and Mark and Renee Byers of Old Town; five grandchildren, Garth Townsend Jr., Brooke and Emma Byers, Kenneth and Elizabeth Byers; one sister, Ruth Butterfield of Carmel; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many wonderful friends. At this time, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Agape Food Pantry, care of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 110 Military St., Houlton, ME 04730, Anah Shrine Hospital, care of Anah Temple, P.O. Box 735, Bangor, ME 04401 or the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls.
