MACHIAS – Pauline Huntley, 81, died unexpectedly Dec. 12, 2008, in Machias. She was born May 15, 1927, in Machias, daughter of the late Clyde O. and Phoebe (Foss) Manchester. After graduating from Machias High School, Pauline worked as a switchboard operator for New England Telephone Co., for many years, and was also employed by Schoppee’s Dairy and Down East 5 & 10, both in Machias. Pauline married Eldred Huntley, the postmaster in East Machias, who died in 1995. In addition to her husband, Pauline was predeceased by two brothers, Clyde O. Manchester Jr. and Kenneth R. Manchester; and a stepdaughter, Ann Look. Pauline is survived by a sister, Avis C. Manchester of Machias; sisters-in-law, Barbara E. Manchester of Machias and Lois Boone of Dixmont; three stepgrandchildren, Brent Look and family, Denise Blackmon and family of Richmond, Va., and Deana Look of Worcester, Mass.; three nieces, Sharon Stackpole and Jean Cherry, both of Machias and Nancy Talbot of East Machias; three great-nieces and one great-nephew, Lindsey and Meredith Cherry, and Allison and Matthew Talbot; her dear friends, Arthur and Dona Emerson, Pastor Loverne Strassburg and her church family at Community of Christ, Machias; special friends, Bunny Daniels and Margaret King; and her many friends and neighbors at Valley View Apartments. Visiting hours will be held 4-6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Machias. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, at Community of Christ, North Street, Machias, officiated by Pastor Loverne Strassburg. Burial will be afterward at Kennebec Cemetery.
