MARS HILL – David C. Caldwell Sr., 66, passed away Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Oct. 5, 1942, in Augusta, the son of George Caldwell and Louise (Newell) Bell. Dave owned and operated Dave’s Auto Repair for 32 years. Dave loved to ride motorcycles, cook and to fish. In addition to his mother, Louise of Robinson, he is survived by his wife, Jean (Violette) Caldwell of Mars Hill; two sons, David Caldwell Jr. and his wife, Jesse, and Daniel Caldwell; a granddaughter, Beka Caldwell, all of Hagerstown, Md.; a stepdaughter, Lynn Born of Waterlou, Ontario; a brother, Ronald Cald-well and his wife, Bess, of Clarksville, Tenn.; two sisters, Patricia Burgher and her husband, Norman, of Mars Hill, Carolee Kline and her husband, Clarence, of Hagerstown, Md.; stepbrother, Roger Bell and his wife, Cindy, of Mars Hill; sister-in-law, Brenda Caldwell of Bridgewater; brother-in-law, Adrian Violette and his wife, Gisele; and sisters-in-law, Simone Poitrois and Denise Violette, all of Canada. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Linda Smart of South Paris. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by a brother, Gerald Caldwell; and his stepfather, Frank Bell. A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at Duncan Funeral Home, 8 Main St., Mars Hill, with the Rev. Richard Bell officiating. Friends may call 10 a.m. until time of service.
