BEALS ISLAND – Lyman Seavey, 78, went to be with his Lord and Savior; and wife, Gloria, Friday, Dec. 19, 2008, at an Ellsworth health care facility. A lifelong resident of Beals Island, Lyman was born there Oct. 9, 1930, the son of the late Heman and Rhodella (Faulkingham) Seavey. Mr. Seavey was educated in the Beals school system. Lyman worked for most of his life as a fisherman. Most recently he was gainfully employed by Carver Shellfish Co., holding many positions, retiring as a pound keeper in 2003. Lyman shared 59 years of marriage with his loving wife, Gloria (Alley) Seavey, who died May 2, 2008. Family members include two daughters, Isabelle Martin and husband, Gary, of Harrington and Anna McGee and husband, Don, of Missouri; grandchildren, Clark Woodward and wife, Renee, John Woodward, Darlene Norton and husband, Spencer, Richard James and wife, Debbie, Robert James and wife, Carol, Steven James, Ray James and wife, Crystal and Gloria Cahill and husband, Shawn; many great-grandchildren; siblings, David Seavey, Annie Davis and husband, Elanson and Deborah Crowley and husband, Vertland; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be sadly missed by close personal friends and confidants, Albert Carver and his wife, Beth. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by siblings, Della Faulkingham, Maggie Drisko, Pauline Merchant, Arvilla Faulkingham, Charlie Seavey, Herman Seavey and Heman Seavey Jr. He was also predeceased by a good friend, Charles H. Beal. Services will be held noon Tuesday, Dec. 23, at Beals Wesleyan Church, Elm Street, Beals, with the Rev. Jesse Merchant officiating. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may visit 10 a.m. until the hour of the service Tuesday at the church. Burial will be afterward at Great Wass Cemetery, Beals.
