GLENBURN – Terrence “Terry” F. Cassidy, 69, died Dec. 20, 2008, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Dec. 30, 1938, in Presque Isle, the son of Charles and Doris (Bragdon) Cassidy. Terry graduated from Presque Isle High School in the Class of 1957. He joined the Air Force upon graduation and served for four years, his last two with the 30th Air Defense Missile Squadron at the BOMARC Missile Base in Bangor. After working at Sears and Roebuck as a serviceman for eight years, Terry started Cassidy Foundations, Inc., running the business for the next 30 years, until his retirement. Terry relished the opportunity to bring family and friends together in celebration throughout the year. He was known for his legendary St. Paddy’s Day parties. He was the master of colorful metaphors, and had the gift of gab. Terry had a keen interest in how the world worked: from watching the weather change on The Hill, to “rigging” something in the shop, from keeping the Republicans in office, to finding a constellation in the night sky. Terry is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Penny (Day) Cassidy; daughters, Cathy Regios and her husband, Philip, of Portland, Terri-Anne Priode and her husband, Jan, of Glenburn, Jennifer Turtlott and her husband, Robie, of Glenburn; and son, Michael Cassidy and his wife, Elizabeth, of Hamilton, Mass.; brothers, Harry Cassidy and his wife, Phyllis, of East Hartford, Conn., Wendell Cassidy of Glastonbury, Conn.; and sister, Diann Johnson and her husband, Gaynor, of Manchester, Conn.; brother-in-law, Peter Day and his wife, Alice, of Bangor; 10 fabulous grandchildren, Caitlyn, Cristen, Adam, Drew, Samantha, Rachel, Justin, Lily, Kate and Maren; and many nieces and nephews. He also felt fortunate to be blessed with so many great friends. A celebration of life service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor, after the service.
