WINTERPORT – Donald L. Parks, 96, passed away peacefully Dec. 24, 2008, at his home. He was born Sept. 9, 1912, in Bridgewater, the son of Henry R. and Jessie (Clark) Parks. Don lived in Winterport most of his life and was a self-employed carpenter and farmer. He was a member of Monroe Odd Fellows Lodge No. 136, Independent Order of Odd Fellows for 54 years, member of Brigadier Encampment No. 67 of Searsport, Loyal Rebekah Lodge No. 92 of Monroe, Marsh River Masonic Lodge No. 102 of Brooks for almost 64 years, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and Monroe Community Church. He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Delma (Clarke) Parks in 2003; and by a son, Keith Parks. Surviving are his children, Wayne R. Parks and his wife, Sherry, of Alexander; Sharma Wood and her husband, Ed, of Winterport and Donald W. Parks and Michele Jason of Winterport; grandchildren, Edward “Jed” Wood, Tracy Stockton, Jessie Parks, Stephen Parks, Wayne Johnson and Danny Wortley; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces including a special niece, Marilyn Gordon; nephews and cousins; one sister-in-law, Minnie Reigle; and a special friend, Pauline Cantwell. A service to celebrate Don’s life will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. Interment in the springtime will be at Pilgrim’s Home Cemetery, the cemetery Don was sexton of for many years.
