BLAINE – Pauline J. Hartley, 82, died Dec. 23, 2008, at her home after a long illness. She was born March 3, 1926, in Presque Isle, daughter of Wellington and Bessie (Cleaves) Murphy. Pauline enjoyed fishing, harness racing, camping and lobster cook outs. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Stanley of Blaine; three children: two sons and their wives, Gary and Evelyn of Glenburn and Larry and Linda of Easton, and a daughter, Linda Hartley of Presque Isle; a sister, Connie Stoodley of Connecticut; a brother, Melvin Todd and his wife, Betty, of Missouri; eight grandchildren, Wendy Dufour of Caribou, Troy Hartley of California, Steven Hartley of Whitefield, Loren Ambrose, Paula Conley, Michelle Collins and Julie Hairston, all of North Carolina and Jody Craig of Masardis; seven great-grandchildren, Kenneth C. and Derek Dufour, Bethany and Bailey Hartley, Dylan and Makayla Conley and Marissa Ambrose; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Pauline will be sadly missed by her friends, Vernon and Fay Cushing, Wesley and Brenda Brown; a special friend, Jessa Cushing; and all who knew and loved her. She was predeceased by her parents; stepfather, Whitney Todd; and a sister, Barbara Miller. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, at Duncan Funeral Home, 8 Main St., Mars Hill, with Pastors Victor Hartley and Lawrence Beals officiating.
