CASTINE – Louise Hvizdos Biggie succumbed to her battle with melanoma Dec. 26, 2008. Born in Ashley, Pa., she grew up in Newark Valley, N.Y. After completing a course of study at Fredonia State Teachers College, she started her teaching career in Newark Valley as a music teacher. She was also actively involved with Cold Comfort, the local community theater throughout the years. A member of Our Lady Of Holy Hope Catholic Church, Castine, she not only served as organist, but also provided and arranged flowers for the church for 40 years.
