BROOKSVILLE – Elizabeth I. Jordan, known to most as “Issie,” passed away peacefully Dec. 20, 2008, at a Blue Hill hospital. She was born Aug. 27, 1927, in Brooksville, the daughter of Wallace and Mary Jane (Grindle) Stevens. Issie attended school in Brooksville, graduating in 1945 from Brooksville High School. She worked at the Brooksville telephone office until her marriage in 1955 to Philip E. Jordan. They lived on Bayside Road, Ellsworth, until Phil’s death in 1979, when Issie returned to Brooksville. She was an avid gardener. She is survived by a daughter, Ann Marie Anderson of Brunswick; granddaughter, Katie; her sister, Ruth of Brooksville; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Philip Jordan; five brothers and a sister. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, at West Brooksville Congregational Church.
